Effect Of Environment Pollution And Their Solution

Environment means the circumstances or conditions that surround us. Earth, our home, gives all the essential things that are needed for our life. For survival of our life in the environment, we should preserve a healthy biosphere with all its ecological systems, all plants and animals, fertile soils, pure waters, and clean air.

Now days, natural beauty of the earth is disappearing, as the people around the world destroy the beauty by maximum exploitation of resources. The rate of destruction of the environment is extremely high compared with the past years.

Causes of environmental pollution
A variety of environmental problems now affect our earth. As globalization continues and the earth's natural processes transform local problems into global issues, some of the problems now affecting the world are acid rain, air pollution, global warming, hazardous waste, ozone depletion, smog, water pollution, overpopulation etc. Smog and toxins are floating in the air, caused by the wastage from industrial smokestacks and by the over use of petroleum-burning vehicles.

Pollution of environment effect the human life. One in five people around the world are dying every year due to factors related to the effect of environmental pollution. But, the most dangerous problem of environmental pollution on human life is the greenhouse effect. The Ecumenical Water Network said about 1.1 billion people worldwide, most of them in Asia, are denied of adequate water and sanitation, while two million people die every year of diseases caused by poor water and sanitation. Most environmental problems are occurring by improper use of energy and resources. The new generation people are not aware of the importance of recycling the energy and conserving it, which in turn leads to more serious problem.

Solution for the environmental problems can be done by reducing the over consumption of natural resources and emission of carbon into atmosphere from vehicles. Try to control the industrial developmental projects that cause water pollution and also the activities which catalysis global warming and climate changes.Reduce deforestation for developmental activities and consumption of non biodegradable materials. Decrease the activities causing pollution of water bodies, air, forests, and soil.

Recycle is the method. Many products are recyclable. By this we can reduce environmental strain. Electronics devices, such as computers and cell phones are recyclable. Create compost plant waste to minimize the waste and carbon dioxide output while creating healthy organic fertilizer. Recycle the used materials with available technologies to reduce deforestation. This can in turn save trees.

Another method is to reuse the spent natural resources and materials manufactured with trees/plants for their conservation. To reduce the demand of the resources, reuse all recycled materials.

Environmental Sustainability means: "Meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs." So for this we have to keep the population densities below the carrying capacity of a region, facilitate the renewal of renewable resources and keeping environmental impact and also conserve the environment." We must remember that God entrusted to us the environment to use it responsibly. Our dominion over nature and other living things means stewardship not domination and exploitation or use without regard for the Earth's caring capacity to reproduce and rehabilitate".

What Is Pollution?

"A pollutant is a waste material that pollutes air, water or soil. Three factors determine the severity of a pollutant: its chemical nature, the concentration and the persistence." Wikipedia.

It is the black smoke coming from exhaust It is the garbage laying along the side of the road It is the slime and sludge floating on the waters of the planet It is waste from industry It is oil spills It is what humans have contributed to their planet.

The constant wiping out of wildlife, and trees that actually help this planet breathe. Why would people want to annihilate things that help them breathe?

What is Pollution?

It's people not taking care of the planet It's people not doing their small share of cleaning up It's people not using caution with chemicals and exhaust It's people not leaving the forests alone It's people that don't turn down the noise

Pollution accumulates from gases, and all the detrimental things that soil the earth and fill the air with toxins. Toxins are contaminants that cause harm to the environment. Pollution has been here since time began. It has grown with society and flourished, in some cases better than society. When you think about back in time, blacksmiths, coal and wood smoke.

Throughout wars, over the centuries, the hazards and destruction have created pollution. In December of 1952 in London, Englawnd, an event named "The Great Smog" lasted less than a week but darkened most of the city. This writer remembers this well having lived in it. It was like being trapped in a smoke filled room for days, there was no way out. In some places, you couldn't see your hand the length of your arm away. Pollutants created from anticyclone and windless conditions, combined with the cold weather caused airborne pollutants to form a layer of smog over the city. This was caused mostly from the burning of coal. What is pollution? It is a murderer. This smog was responsible for contaminating over 100,000 people. Total fatalities resulting from this Smog were over 12,000.

Attention to pollution has been in the US since the 1950's. Congress passed specific acts to clean up the environment, but it would appear from the present state of this country, that these acts definitely were not adhered to.

There is not much hope for the ecosystem considering the dumping in the Hudson River, long-term dioxin contaminants that started in 1947 have accelerated to the testing of nuclear weapons and dispersing of lethal radioactive contaminants throughout the earth's air. The constant addition of more and more, garbage and gases.

For the last time What is pollution? Pollution is aircraft gas and noise, industrial gases, herbicides, pesticides, and radioactivity. Streets filled with Neon lights, and highways covered with billboards. Landfills and garbage dumps. Exhausts and smoke. Millions of tons of pollutants are released into the environment on a daily basis. The world will become like the 1952 Smog episode in London, England unless something serious is done.

One writer is glad she is older, but worries about the future of the younger generations and we need to take the time to consider that. Words won't change the world, but "with a little help from a friend" this earth can at least get a reprieve, giving it a little time to breathe.

The Damages of Garbage Pollution

Usually people don't think garbage would cause environmental pollution. In fact, garbage can cause the drop of air quality, water pollution and waste of resource. Besides, it influences the economic development.

Thus, prevention and management of garbage becomes a new important task for us. Therefore we need to know where the garbage comes from first.

First, it comes from industries. Industries produce various waster water, gas, toxic substances and chemical wastes. If they are placed in the open air or dumped or illegally poured into the river. As a result, the environment is damaged.

Second, domestic garbage: As citizens have weak awareness of environmental protection, they scatter waste paper and glasses. They use a lot of disposable products at will. Thus, much pollution is caused such as dust pollution.

Third, medical garbage: special products with a lot of bacteria have been leaved behind, including medical polluted water, medical wastes, one- shot injectors and so on. If they are not careful handled and directly poured into the river or simply placed or even illegally resold, some communicable disease would spread.

Garbage brings lots of damages to the environment:
First, water pollution: garbage produces a large amount of acidic, basic, toxic wastes. Some waste water contains mercury, lead, and cadmium which pollute the underground water once they penetrate into the ground. Most rivers are polluted by ammonia nitrogen, volatile phenol, and permanganate. Some rivers lose the self- cleaning function and thus, influence the reproduction of aquatic life.

Second, air pollution: in trash area, because of the burning and placing of garbage, there are various toxic gases containing sulfur. Dusts and small particles fly with the wind and thus, sulfur dioxide in the air significantly increases. Thus, acid rain frequently happens, so does the particle pollution.

Third, soil pollution: many areas are used to place garbage and thus, land degradation and desertification happen. Because of a large amount of plastic bags, waste metals are leaved in the soil, the soil is hardened, and not suitable for planting crops.

Fourth, harmful to human beings' health: toxic gases are released by garbage and fly everywhere with the wind. As a result, sulfur dioxide, lead in the air arise and cause many respiratory diseases. When underground water is polluted, people may get diarrhea, trachoma and other diseases.

Fifth, harmful to the economic development: according to researches, 70% of garbage can be recycled. If it is recycled, it can create many profits, very helpful to the economic development and employment rate. Otherwise, it causes resource waste and ecological disruption which absolutely influence economic development.

Noise and Air Pollution

Traffic jams, industrial waste, industrial plants; it is a fact that in our cities pollution is reigning supreme in all possible forms. Though this problem has specifically been on the world power's agenda since long, and despite constant exhortations to all the citizens to assist in this, all struggle seems to have produced negligible results.

We have not heard much about the noise pollution, but surely it is a sort of affliction of our own society. Just give a thought to our large number of cities; noise of horns and motors all on the road, loud music in the restaurants and clubs, noises from our factories, airports and construction sites...the noise from all these sources can cause severe damage to our ears and mental health. The noise pollution can actually cause three kinds of problems for us: temporary disturbances in our organs, damage to our organs and or annoyance.

For this reason there are some precise rules and regulations for the industrial plants and clubs, for imposing the limits which you cannot cross under any circumstances and also to forbid the construction of such clubs or factories near the residential areas. For reducing the noise pollution, the buildings can be suitably equipped with the acoustical panels which can be suitably assembled for erecting the acoustic enclosures, partition walls or barriers. Similarly building housing the noise producing machines can have some special soundproof designs.

Factories are main reason for the noise and air pollution. The smoke and the dust generated in several industrial plants in the production cycle can result in serious damage to the environment as well as to the health of the people.

In order to limit the damage, the factories should adopt much more efficient systems for smoke and dust suction. These suction machines are installed in the factories and they filter the harmful dust and smoke before releasing them in the atmosphere. These systems greatly improve the internal and external environment and help in reducing pollution levels to a great extent.

Different Types of Environmental Pollution

People always think that the water and air on the earth is endless, so they keep emitting million tons of waste gases into the sky and dumping numerous garbage into the rivers, lakes and oceans. As a result, human activities cause different types of environmental pollution.

First, land pollution:
The clean-up of the garbage has become an important issue in many big cities. Among the million tons of garbage every day, most can not be incinerated or decayed, such as plastics, rubber and glass, which are considered as the number one enemy of mankind.

Second, marine pollution:
This is mainly caused by the crude oil leaked from oil tanker and oil well, the pesticides and fertilizers used in agriculture, the sewage discharged from factories, and the acid solution exhausted from oil field. These wastes make most of the oceans and lakes polluted. As a result, not only the marine organisms are affected, but both the birds and humans may also be poisoned because of eating these organisms.

Third, air pollution:
This is the most direct and serious environmental pollution, mainly from the carbon monoxide and hydrogen sulfide emitted from factories, cars, power plants, and so on. Every day, there are many people infected with respiratory organ or visual organ diseases due to the exposure to these polluted air.

Fourth, water pollution:
Water pollution happens when certain substance enters into the water and changes the chemical, physical, biological characteristics of the water, which then affects the efficient use of water, endangers human health, causes harm on the environment, and leads to the deterioration of water quality.

Fifth, air pollution:
Air pollution means that the concentration of pollutants in the air reaches to or above the hazardous level, which leads to the damage to ecosystems and the normal survival and development of human life. As a result, it will bring harms both on human being and creatures.

Sixth, noise pollution:
Noise pollution is the phenomenon when the environmental noise exceeds the national emission standards of environmental noise, and interferences with the normal work, study, and living of other people.

How To Manage Waste Pollution?

Let us first make an attempt of defining wastes. Wastes can be the result of biological activities of living organisms or any other product which has undergone modification to such an extent that it should not be allowed to stay any more in the surrounding. They are basically products which are the results of human activities if we can generally speak. And now we can define waste management. Wastes have to be managed and that involves collection, transfer, gradual processing and finally recycling of the waste products. Waste management is directly linked to our health and well being and at the same time affects the environment in a significant way.

The most common way in which wastes are treated are now being found quite dangerous as such and in this way it would contribute to landfills. Waste management has become quite a headache for big cities as solid wastes are piling up day by day. There are certain numbers of synthetic products which is in no way bio degradable and hence as a result of this even after separating and categorizing wastes, no impact can be felt largely.

This is the reason why we should shift slowly to natural products which are more organic in content and bio degradable so that they are not contributing in the landfills. Incineration is however being supported by many reputed organizations but now a huge debate is taking place and all the results are more or less pointing towards the fact that incineration can no more be the solution to waste management problems in big cities.

How to Reduce Water Pollution

Water pollution is a big problem that we are facing today because there are many people who do not concern about their environment. This kind of pollution will be dangerous for you because the bad effects provided are really harmful for your health. If you still concern about your environment, it is better for you to do some good things that will help you in reducing the pollution so you can keep your environment better. Here, you can see some good things that you can do for your needs.

1. You need to use baking soda as the right way to clean your stuffs than the use of cleaning products. In fact, baking soda is cheaper and it is really effective in the process of cleaning. Besides, this baking soda is seen as a natural way to clean your stuffs in a good way so it is important for you to consider it for your needs.

2. If you would like to buy a detergent, you must be sure that you take the right one that does not contain phosphate. Keep in mind that the ingredient is really harmful for fish and other wildlife so you must stop the consumption of products that have phosphate ingredients.

3. You are not allowed to throw away oil. You must know that little amount of water has the ability to contaminate thousands gallons of water. Thus, you must throw away the oil rightly so you can make dangerous your environment.

4. You must learn on how to treat the products which are hazardous such as polishes, paint, oil and other products of cleaning. By knowing the right information about it, you can handle them very well so you can keep your environment in a good way. So, you can prevent bad things that can happen.
